Aviation Instructor's Handbook

This is the Audiobook version of the Aviation Instructor's Handbook FAA-H-8083-9A. It has been superseded by FAA-H-8083-9B produced in 2020. We have not yet made a new version of the audiobook. While much of the information is the same as the newer version, please be sure to download the newer version PDF from the FAA site and become familiar with the newest information.

Designed for ground instructors, flight instructors, and aviation maintenance instructors, the Aviation Instructor’s Handbook was developed by the Flight Standards Service, Airman Testing Standards Branch, in cooperation with aviation educators and industry to help beginning instructors understand and apply the fundamentals of instruction. This handbook provides aviation instructors with up-to-date information on learning and teaching, and how to relate this information to the task of teaching aeronautical knowledge and skills to students. Experienced aviation instructors will also find the updated information useful for improving their effectiveness in training activities. 

Like all out audiobooks, it is read word for word from the FAA handbook, omitting figures and captions that wouldn't make sense if heard aloud. For this reason we would like to make clear that the audiobook is not intended as a replacement for the actual FAA handbook, but as an adjunct. We include a pdf file containing the actual handbook with the files containing the audio content.
